Position Summary

The Transfer & Transition StudentCenter (TTSC), under the direction of the Office of Advising Strategies (OAS),seeks a forward-thinking and student-centered professional who is passionateabout transforming the dual credit/concurrent enrollment, transfer, and branchtransition student experience from transactional to truly transformational.This role advances the institution’s commitment to making bachelor’s degreecompletion accessible, attainable, and empowering through proactive outreach,holistic advisement, and intentionally designed pathways.

TTSC strives to create experiences thatfoster clarity, confidence, and connection. This role supports the evolution ofthe Center’s approaches to welcoming, supporting, and connecting transfer anddual credit students in alignment with research, data, and emerging highereducation trends to ensure transitions are both efficient and impactful.

A central component of this work is theability to build and sustain strong, trust-based partnerships with secondaryschools, community colleges, and other higher education institutions. Bycultivating collaborative relationships and aligning shared goals, this rolehelps create seamless pathways that benefit students across educationalsystems.

The successful candidate will bringadaptability, reflective practice, and a commitment to continuous improvement.Most importantly, they will foster an environment where dual credit andtransfer students feel valued, supported, and empowered to see themselves asfull members of the university community from their very first interaction.

Position expectations:

  • Coordinate the Dual Credit/ConcurrentEnrollment Program, including:
    • Creating and maintaining Dual Credit MasterAgreements between high schools and UNM
    • Coordinating the application andregistration processes for dual credit/concurrent enrollment students
    • Preparing and providing enrollment andgrade reports for partnering secondary education institutions
    • Supporting high school students in makinghigher education connections and planning for their higher education academicexperiences
    • Connecting high school students todiscipline-specific academic advisors, integrated advisors, and facultyadvisors as appropriate for a high school student’s individual dualcredit/concurrent enrollment plan
  • Create and maintain academic relationshipsand partnerships primarily with secondary education institutions but also withother higher education institutions
  • Serve as a liaison to NM Higher EducationDepartment (NMHED), NM Public Education Department (NMPED), and NM Dual CreditPartnerships (NMDCP), the state’s chapter for the National Alliance ofConcurrent Enrollment Programs (NACEP)
  • Participate in recruitment and outreachevents/visits at secondary and higher education institutions
  • Develop and deliver informationalpresentations to small and large groups of students, parents, and communitymembers as well as staff and faculty from secondary and higher educationinstitutions
  • Provide input on and participate in thedevelopment, design, and implementation of outreach, recruitment, retention,and mentorship programs and initiatives for dual credit/concurrent enrollment,transfer, and branch transition students
  • Collaborate with multiple UNM departments,staff, and faculty members
    • Ensure a smooth transition for students toUNM
    • Augment the student support systems forstudents transitioning to UNM
    • Work to eliminate/minimize systematicbarriers/constraints Dual Credit students encounter as they navigate the UNMsystem
  • Provide support for transferprograms/initiatives
  • Provide support for maintaining data andanalyzing statistical information for both dual credit/concurrent enrollmentand transfer trends

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working as an undergraduate advisor at a 4-yearinstitution
  • Experience providing academic advisement from start tofinish of an undergraduate degree program
  • Experience with coordinating peer mentoring programs and/orstudent success programming
  • Experience providing advisement to prospective students
  • Experience working with parents/guardians of students
  • Experience working with partners from secondary educationinstitutions and/or multiple higher education institutions
  • Strong listening, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Advanced coordination and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving a diverse studentpopulation
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively andprofessionally, both orally and in writing
  • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations andprocedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategiesand procedures
  • Ability to plan, assess, and evaluate programs
