Position SummaryTheCollege of Arts and Sciences Advisement Center is very excited to announcewe are hiring. As an employee of this highly energetic andstudent oriented advisement center, you will be providing academicadvisement to prospective and current students within the College of Artsand Sciences and the various departments served within. One of multiplehires within this posting is for the Managed Online Program (MOPs). MOPs is a degree completion program withonline courses offered with a fast-tracked schedule toward graduation. This is a very fast-paced environment where employees strive to giveexcellent professional consultation/advice.

The selected candidates will be advising and assisting students in thedevelopment of academic plans and class schedules; evaluating documentsfor entry and exit from the college of Arts & Sciences; partneringwith the student to implement tools and success strategies as they navigatethe university system. This role requires technologically savvy, motivatedindividuals that are very comfortable communicated at a distance via the web.

The MOPs position will work in-person and in a virtual environment withstudents from around the country, including many who are juggling demandingcareers and family life. A high-touch approach to advising will be required toensure that students are optimizing their academic success. This position willrequire an understanding of online student success resources campus wideas well as the ability to synthesize this with the specifics ofdepartmental requirements and the rigor of an accelerated program.

  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the USUNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum
Ability to:
Interpret and analyze department, college, and university degree requirements.
Multi-task with ever changing priority demands.
Proficiently utilize programs related to advisory duties: Banner, Microsoft Office Suite, and Web Conferencing tools.
Follow direction as demonstrated by specific requirements addressed in the cover letter.

Experience
Working with diverse populations.
Working in a high traffic service-oriented environment.

Ideal
Ability to:
Connect with students through a Teaching/Learning relationship both one on one and in large groups.
Disseminate information through various media: email, oral and written communication and other social media applications.
Create online support and or informational videos.

Experience:
Recent experience working at a post-secondary institution.
Supporting online customers or clients in an educational setting.
