Position Summary

Provides academic support services to a wide variety of individuals and groups, and participates in the overall administration of the UNM Los Alamos Academic Support Center program. Creates and/or guides and oversees the creation and implementation of coaching programs that guide and assist students with homework, problem solving, report writing, and test preparation. Provides supplemental instruction and comprehensive support. Depending on a student's academic interests, risk for stop out, and stage in their community college journey, they may meet with their academic coach as often as weekly. Students also attend monthly workshops that include meeting with a coach and participating in activities designed to build professional skills.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Advising on transition to academia and academic skills
2. Career/College/discipline/program advising (e.g. showing connections between courses/programs and careers)
3. Working to fill knowledge/experience/social capital gaps
4. Workshops to build professional skills
5. Collecting data on student needs to inform curriculum development and pedagogy
6. Assisting students with assignments and assessments
7. Coordination of additional support for integrated wrap-around services
8. Following up with students

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

Successful completion of at least 60 college-level credit hours; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
