Position Summary | As a nationally accredited program with a strong educational component in The University of New Mexico School of Medicine, the Office of the Medical Investigator (OMI) investigates any death occurring across the state of New Mexico that is sudden, violent, untimely, unexpected or where a person is found dead and the cause of death is unknown. The OMI, which is a special program within the Department of Pathology, determines the cause and manner of death in these cases, and provides formal death certification. OMI is currently looking for a Shift Supervisor for the Accessioning Department. This position supports the operations in evidentiary chain of custody of deceased persons, evidence, and property from intake to release. Communication and problem resolution skills are essential to this position as the person will interact with internal and external customers, as well as collaborate with leadership on any issues that may arise. Our ideal candidate will have the drive to lead, train and cultivate their team to support the mission of OMI. This position will oversee collection, preservation and release of valuables, personal belongings and evidence requiring knowledge of inventory management practices. The candidate will understand quality control in an environment where they may be exposed to extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, blood-borne pathogens and noxious odors. Minimum Qualifications | Associate's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. |
