Position SummaryHSC Contract and Grants Accounting is lookingfor an Accountant 1. Would you liketo work for a core-office organization with a lot of variety? Interact withmultiple departments across HSC with a focus on accounting? And do you alsowant to be a team member in a department with low turnover that encouragesprofessional development? If yes, the HSCFinancial Services Division is looking for you.

Performs basicaccounting functions such as ledger/fund analysis, cost analysis, and invoicepreparation. Prepares financial reportsfrom standard operating statistics and/or financial data. Investigates andresolves problems related to funds, budgets, expenditures, and/or procurementpractices. The Accountant 1 positionwill aid in the development, implementation and maintenance of internal fiscalsystems and procedures, applying basic concepts, methods, and techniques. Mayserve as unit/area transaction initiator or requisitioner.

  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 9 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; no previous experience required.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experienceworking with the UNM accounting system or other large enterprise system
  • Ability toapply internal policies as well as state and federal rules and regulations
  • Experiencemonitoring and reconciling high volume accounts
