Position Summary

The Department of Neurosurgery seeks a highly motivated individual to join our team as an Accountant 2. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who will act as the lead for the department's clinical and unrestricted fiscal operations and budgetary process. 

This position will be responsible for:

  • The oversight of clinical, unrestricted, restricted, and foundation accounts
  • Budget development, monthly reconciliation, and revenue and expense reports
  • Analyzing and interpreting financial operations
  • Preparing monthly, bi-yearly, and ad hoc reports for the department and SOM administration

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 12 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  

  • Master's in accounting
  • UNM Accounting experience
  • The ability to analyze and interpret financial data
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate financial information and compliance requirements to staff, leadership, physicians and other professionals
  • Working knowledge of Banner (or similar system) and UNM Financial systems
  • Proficient in MS Excel and MS Access to analyze/interpret financial data and prepare financial reports
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member
  • The successful applicant should demonstrate knowledge of university policies/procedures, applicable local, state, and federal regulations and generally accepted accounting principles
