Position Summary

The Center for High Technology Materials (CHTM) at the University of New Mexico (UNM) invites applications for a team player to fill an Accountant 2 vacancy. CHTM is an internationally recognized center of excellence managing ~$6M in federal awards per year, in addition to ~$2M in unrestricted funds for center and clean-room support. This is a developmental position that recruits at Grade 12 with promotion potential to Grade 13. On-the-job, informal, and formal training for grant management-related tasks will be provided for developmental purposes.

Performs advanced, multifaceted accounting and related functions in such areas as ledger maintenance and analysis, cost and/or financial analysis, fund reconciliation, posting, and inventory control. Analyzes complex financial and operating data and prepares management reports, financial statements, and projections.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 12 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with UNM accounting systems (Banner, Chrome River)
  • Experience with UNM Unrestricted Accounting processes and requirements
  • Experience with creating and maintaining internal accounting documentation in Excel
