Position Summary

The School of Law is seeking an Accountant 2 with excellent analytical and organizational skills. The qualified candidate will be a self-starter who is detail-oriented with strong multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities. Effective communication is a must as this position will interact with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.

Main Accounting duties include: Monthly reconciliation of unrestricted indices - recognizing, researching, and resolving issues as necessary; Provide reports to unit managers, faculty, and law student organizations; Assist with annual budgets, mid-year projections, and categorization of reserves; Provide guidance to faculty, staff, and students on accounting/ purchasing matters, and University policies and procedures; Process journal vouchers and labor redistributions; Process CR expense reimbursements and CR invoice payments; Initiate purchasing transactions with a Pcard and through Lobomart; Prepare money lists and deposit funds; Monitor and approve payroll transactions

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 12 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with My Reports, Banner System, Chrome River, LoboMart, LoboWeb, Marketplace
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Knowledge of UNM policies & procedures
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to manage several and sometimes competing priorities as well as meeting deadlines
  • Initiate work assignments
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
