Position Summary | The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. CDD is seeking an Accountant 2 who has a strong accounting background and excellent analytical, computer, and organizational skills to join our accounting team. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented individual who possesses strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills to interact with faculty and staff at all levels. This Accountant 2 is responsible for a variety of accounting duties, including, monitoring sponsored projects, timely review and approval of departmental transactions on sponsored projects. Preparing and reviewing budgets and expenditures for compliance with UNM policies and sponsor requirements. Also, monthly reconciliation of indices, preparing and updating monthly financial statements, as well as attending monthly financial meetings. Compiling data, researching/resolving issues using Banner Finance and preparing financial data. Developing budgets and tracking operating ledger data to monitor trends. This Accountant 2 will also be responsible for timely review and approval of department transactions such as PCard reconciliations, reimbursements, and requisitions; understanding and answering questions regarding allowable purchasing and reimbursements, and reviewing PCard statements to ensure compliance. Additionally, this position will be processing financial transactions such as labor redistributions and journal vouchers; preparing and entering mid-year and annual budgets, participation in Fiscal Year End closing processes; providing assistance during the development and pre-submission of contract and grant proposals for Federal, State and private funding agencies. Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 12 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. |
Preferred Qualifications | **Be sure to include a cover letter addressing our preferred qualifications listed below ** Proficient in MS Excel to analyze/interpret financial data and prepare financial reports. Experience with
Knowledge of University Policies/Procedures and applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate financial information and compliance requirements to staff, leadership, faculty and other professionals. Ability to work as a team member. |
