The UNM College of Pharmacy is seeking a detailed, reliable, and motivated individual with an accounting education and/or background to join our organization. The candidate will be held to a high ethical standard, familiar with policy compliance, fiscal controls, and audit procedures. The candidate must be able to perform basic math and statistical analysis and be proficient with data analysis in Excel.
Candidates should be competent, if not proficient, in performing journal entries, calculations, data queries and researching procedures, authoring memos, reconciliations, internal audits, projections, advocating for process improvements, and communicating policy advice. Analysis of financial statements, chart of accounts, operating ledgers, payroll records, and accounting systems data will be routine.
The position is expected to proactively accomplish accounting tasks with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will be personally accountable for their assignments and communicate frequently on progress. Self-directed work will be an expectation in alignment with overall organizational goals.
The Accountant 2 will interface with a variety of stakeholders across the College of Pharmacy. They will provide excellent customer support and be expected to demonstrate a high degree of emotional intelligence in their interpersonal communication. They must be teachable while able to educate and advise professionals and non-professionals alike, in good faith and respect.
|Conditions of Employment
Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 12 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
