Position Summary

The Department of Emergency Medicine in theUNM School of Medicine is a complex, multi-faceted department that includes theEmergency Medicine administrative and academic offices, the Emergency MedicalServices Academy, and the Center for Disaster Medicine. The Department isseeking a professional, detail-oriented Accountant II who possesses strongproblem solving and communication skills to interact with faculty and staff atall levels.

The qualified candidate will be responsible for managingunrestricted and restricted funds to include completing and entering budgets,monitoring and monthly reconciliation of indexes, preparing and updatingmonthly projection reports and other financial reports. Reviewing and approvingfinancial transactions such as PCard reconciliations, reimbursements,requisitions and journal vouchers. Processing financial transactions such aslabor redistributions, journal vouchers, coordination and preparation ofregularly scheduled and special billings. Providing guidance and support tofaculty and staff in regards to accounting related issues and UNM policies andprocedures.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 12 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient in MS Excel to analyze/interpretfinancial date and prepare financial reports
  • Experience working with UNM financial systems including:Banner, Chrome River, LoboWeb, MyReports
  • Contract and Grant experience
  • Knowledge of University Policies/Procedures and applicablelocal, state, and federal regulations
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
