Position SummaryTheUniversity of New Mexico, School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry andBehavioral Sciences, is looking for an experienced, dynamic, self-motivatedindividual to serve its accounting team as an Accountant 3.

Theselected candidate will have demonstrated experience working with federal,state, and non-profit contracts and grants. Our Accountant 3 will supervise,train, and oversee the team’s day-to-day accounting operations, maintaininternal controls, research and problem solve budgets, procurement, billing,and expenditure issues. This position will participate in a variety of budgetand financial meetings involving department leaders, sponsors, and externalstakeholders. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly motivated andresponsive with exceptional interpersonal skills, excellent organizationalskills, and the ability to establish priorities and complete projects on time.Being a team player, demonstrating excellent verbal/written communicationskills, and having the ability to work independently as well as overseeing thework of others is essential.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 15 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • UNM accounting experience
  • Demonstrated team building, as both team member and team leader
  • Supervisory experience
  • Expertise creating ad hoc reports for management and leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate financial information and compliance requirements to staff, leadership, physicians and other professionals
