The Contract and Grant Accounting department has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accountant 3. Contract & Grant Accounting (CGA) is under the direction of the Financial Services Division (FSD) and also reports to the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR). Our mission is to provide the University of New Mexico’s research community with professional expertise and quality customer service in the management of externally sponsored funding. We also strive to provide guidance and support to ensure compliance with UNM policy, state law, federal regulations and agency terms and conditions of funding.
Theideal candidate for this position will have experience working with automatedfinancial systems and reporting software. This position requires excellent analyticalskills along with critical thinking, resourcefulness, communication, andproblem-solving skills. This individual must have the ability to compile,analyze, interpret, and present complex financial reports, statements, and/orprojections. In addition, Knowledge of the principles, processes, and standardsfor financial analysis and reporting as related to a research institution arerequired.
Responsibilitiesof this position include but are not limited to: pulling reports and backupdocumentation for various federal, state, and other external audits; helpingwith testing requirements for our various financial systems; manage and overseeour subaward desk review process; monitoring restricted funds throughbudget-to-actual reports, burn rate reports, executive reports, and any otherrequired reports; reconciling our Letter of Credit (LOC) draw accounts;investigate inventory dispositions on assets acquired with external funds;developing reports from various data sources; interpreting and analyzingreports and projections; maintaining internal controls; investigation andresolution of general accounting issues; and other special projects as assigned.In addition, you will be responsible for interpreting and communicatingcompliance requirements from multiple funding sources. You will also berequired to meet regularly with department leadership and others to present reportsand project status updates.
|Conditions of Employment|
Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 15 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
