Position Summary

The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

This Administrative Assistant 1 (AA1) position will provide administrative support to the Autism Spectrum Evaluation Clinic with the Clinical Evaluation Services Unit at the CDD. The AA1 will function as part of a team to support clinic functions, check inventory for supplies and materials needed for clinic, process travel reimbursements, assist with phone calls and data entry. The AA1 will assist in editing and proofing documents as well as having contact and assist in creating work schedules for consumer employee. The AA1 will greet client families, assist with clinic compliance related duties. The AA1 will be energetic and not be afraid of hard work.

  • Ability to work effectively with a team of administrative and clinical staff

  • Familiarity of diverse communities including those of individuals with developmental disabilities, communities in need, and families with special needs children

  • Ability to work with a diverse group of MD’s, clinical and managerial staff

  • Advanced coordination and organizational skills

  • Ability to be flexible while staying professional and positive in a changing environment.

  • Utmost accuracy for data entry

Conditions of Employment
  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience

  • providing administrative support in a direct service environment
  • handling a high volume of phone calls, chart filing and record maintenance
  • scheduling and coordinating meetings or appointments for staff and/or families of clients, and events and/or other similar activities for supervisors, which may include coordinating travel and lodging arrangements
  • with data entry and database and records management
  • working as part of a team with diverse ethnic groups and people with disabilities.

High level of knowledge of MS Office Suite

Bilingual Spanish/English

Prior UNM clerical/administrative experience
