Position SummaryTheDepartment of Internal Medicine - Administration is seeking to hire an AdminAssistant 2. This opportunity is for anorganized, detail oriented individual who can work effectively andindependently in a multi-task environment. Our team consists of an extremely large and diverse group of staff whoare highly energetic and dedicated to the success of our department. This position requires an individual whopossesses superb communication skills, reliability, and the ability to handle ahigh level of interaction amongst several entities, both internal and externalto the University. The successfulcandidate will serve as the main point of contact for the department and willbe responsible for relaying and resolving routine telephone and/or walk-up inquiries,coordinating meetings, performing data entry, and establishing and maintainingrecords. The position will also managethe front desk operations to include mail distribution/mailbox maintenance, MasterDirectory data entry and maintenance, as well as managing staff badges andpackage deliveries. Additional dutiesand responsibilities include supervising student employees, lead fordepartmental event planning and special projects as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experiencesupervising student employees
  • Superbcommunication skills and the ability to handle high level of interactionamongst several entities, both internal and external to the University.
  • Experiencewith various computer programs
  • Experienceworking in a diverse work environment
  • Previousexperience working as a receptionist, or similar administrative setting
  • Abilityto multi-task, prioritize duties and delegate appropriately
