Position Summary

The Office of Advising Strategies is excited to announce they are seeking an Administrative Assistant. This position will work alongside our diverse set of specialized areasthat serve the advisement and student success community. This requires a range of skills and aknowledge of organizational policies and procedures. The successful candidate will be primarily located in the Training and Testing Center - our space located on the ground floor of Casas del Rio. At times they will be asked to be in the University Advisement and Enrichment Center. Regardless of location, the work will always focus on supporting student success.

Some specific duties will include:

  • Providing administrative support for the department such as answering telephones, assisting visitors, and resolving and/or referring a range of administrative problems and inquiries.
  • Composing, editing, and proofreading correspondence and reports. May maintain databases and perform routine information gathering.
  • Scheduling and coordinating meetings, events, interviews, appointments, and/or other similar activities for supervisors, which may include coordinating travel and lodging.
  • Requisitioning supplies, printing, maintenance, and other services.
  • Serving as point person for HR functions and duties at the unit level.

Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • General knowledge of UNM and its policies and processes
  • Desire to assist the UNM student population and support of Student Success Partners
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft 365 product family beyond basic Office Suite.
  • Ability to follow direction as demonstrated by specific requirements addressed in the cover letter.
