The University of New Mexico’s (UNM) Department of Music is looking for a dynamic Administrative Assistant 2 to become a key member of our Music Office team. This is more than just an administrative role - it's an opportunity to support a thriving artistic community while showcasing your expertise and talents.

Located in the heart of the College of Fine Arts, the Music Office serves as the welcoming hub for students, faculty, and community members who share a passion for the performing arts. As the first point of contact, your role will be essential to keeping the department running smoothly.


What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as the primary contact for visitors, students, and faculty - both in-person and over the phone.
  • Coordinate and maintain calendars, room scheduling, work with staff on equipment needs.
  • Provide key administrative support to the department chair and faculty.
  • Keep the office organized by managing supplies, mail, and shipments.
  • Record and distribute minutes from faculty meetings and submit work orders with UNM’s Facilities Management Department.
  • Assist with dissemination of information regarding upcoming events and student, staff, and faculty successes through UNM Social Media, UNM Newsroom, and the other areas.
  • Work on Lobo web scheduling for each semester
  • Help with student jury sheets and student assessment forms
  • Work on C-cure security systems entering student information to give them access to the CFA building
  • Computer entry of Biweekly payroll
  • Other misc duties as needed

  • Creative-minded, with experience utilizing various social media platforms, experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite, etc.) and a flair for visual communication.
  • Strong writer and editor with attention to detail and polished communication skills.

This is a full-time (40 hours/week), benefits-eligible position with access to UNM’s excellent benefits package.

Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:
A warm, helpful demeanor - even when the phones are ringingand the lobby is full.
Proven experience utilizing social media and basic graphic design tools andtechniques.
Experience with database entry and management.
Demonstrated ability to create and edit clear, professional written materials.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
