Position Summary

The Office of Career Services assists students with all phases of the career development process from exploring their interests, choosing a major, to participating in internships and job shadowing. We then help prepare for the job search, application process and practicing for interviews. We conduct many workshops and presentations on any career related topic throughout the year and host up to 7 career fairs a year. We also host an On Campus Recruiting program where employers can come to campus and conduct info sessions around campus and as well as in our offices; employers also interview students on-site for career and internship opportunities within their companies.

This position serves as front desk administrative support assisting and greeting all levels of clients (students, staff, faculty, alumni, community members & employers); therefore, we are seeking a customer service professional with a friendly disposition, strong work ethic, a high level of professionalism and flexibility. This position serves as a first impression of this office. This position requires strong organizational and time management skills to resolve administrative inquires and concerns, handle a busy office environment and assist in tracking projects to completion. In addition, this position will serve as administrative support to the Cooperative Education and Internship program. They will occasionally assist clients in our computer lab with basic navigation issues and serve as primary and/or back-up for financial processes within our office. They will also assist the Career Development team and the Employer Relations team with various projects to help prepare for workshops and career fairs. Additional duties include: answering a multi-line phone system, scheduling appointments using an electronic calendar system, data entry, filing and supply monitoring and ordering and requisition internal services. This position may also serve as a mentor to student staff.

  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the USUNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Must have strong customer service skills with a diverse clientele
  • Experience scheduling appointments utilizing an electronic calendar system
  • Must have experience entering and sorting data into a database/spreadsheet
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have strong organization and time management skills
  • Must be able to assist others in navigating basic computer issues such as, Loboweb, email, internet
