Position Summary

The University of New MexicoValencia Campus is seeking an exceptional customer service AdministrativeAssistant 3 who will serve as the first contact for the Valencia Campus. Thisposition oversees and/or performs a range of diverse administrative activiesfor the Director of Business Operations and the Administrative Division. Theideal candidate will have experience greeting and directing prospectivestudents and visitors, exceptional telephone skills, and be able to multitask.This position schedules use of autos, maintains inventory of supplies, metersmail, and oversees use of copiers. This position oversees the hiring ofand is the timekeeper for student employees. This position plays a direct role in the IT help ticket/work order system.

Located about 30 miles south ofAlbuquerque in rural Valencia county, the University of New Mexico-ValenciaCampus is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico whichfunctions as a community college in the region and is designated a HispanicServing Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, ValenciaCampus offers academic transfer programs, technical vocational programs, AdultBasic Education,and Dual Credit High School/College courses to Valencia andSocorro Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of over2,000 credit students per semester.

Conditions of Employment
  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the USUNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with a multi-line telephone system and routing calls
  • Experience with office machinery including computer, printer, and copier
  • Experience with record-keeping and filing
  • Experience working in a customer service setting; greeting and directing customers
  • Experience metering and distributing mail
  • Experience with timekeeping and/or payroll
  • Experience receiving, evaluating, assigning, and follow-up with IT help tickets/work order system
  • Experience with recruitment and hiring
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask
