Position Summary

The position of Administrative Assistant III will be the primary front-line customer service provider and will perform a variety of administrative and staff support duties for the department. The individual in this position will be in contact with the public, students, faculty and staff, responding to inquiries regarding faculty governance, commencement, freshman convocation, and other general university questions in person, by telephone, and via email. The individual will make complex scheduling arrangements and will coordinate meetings for multiple participants and will assist with daily tasks as needed.
This position will be expected to provide various administrative support and record maintenance functions for faculty governance including all Faculty Senate committees, Academic Freedom and Tenure committee and the Committee on Governance. Complete meeting minutes from notes or recording. The successful candidate will also assist with the University Commencement, Freshman Family Day and other formal academic ceremonies, meetings, and events which will include occasional evenings and weekends. A high level of confidentiality is required.

  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the USUNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
