Position Summary
The University of New Mexico-Taos invites applications for the position of Administrative Assistant to the Dean.This individual will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Dean's Office and will serve as a liaison between the Dean and students, faculty and outside constituencies.

This position will also include secretarial and administrative support to the Dean of Instruction, Senior Operations Manager, Academic Advising, Dual Enrollment, Office of Educational Technology and Faculty. The Administrative Assistant to the Dean will ensure that the Department of Instruction operates effectively, efficiently, and professionally.

This position is responsible for maintaining office efficiency by planning and implementing office systems. Supporting the administrative needs of the Department of Instruction to include overseeing activities for the unit such as answering telephones, scheduling appointments, and assisting and resolving problems and inquiries of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position serves to support the critical daily administrative operations and serves as a primary point of direct administrative contact and liaison with other offices, individuals students, staff, faculty and external institutions and agencies.

As a function of the Department of Instruction this position will be responsible for gathering, entering, and/or updating data to maintain departmental records and databases, as appropriate; establishes and maintains files and records, and assisting with project development and planning to ensure more efficient service and organization of the office, by participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

· College Degree-Certificate, Associate, or Bachelor’s Degree

· Three years of administrative support experience in an academic setting or equivalent.

· Bilingual (English/Spanish)

· Experience in an administrative office in higher education environment/community college.

· Working knowledge of office equipment, like printers or fax machines.

· Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel PowerPoint, Outlook (Office 365), and calendar management.
