Working TitleAdministrative Hearing Advisor
Position Grade14
Position Summary

This is a part-time position (0.5 FTE) with the UNM Administrative Hearing Office.

The Administrative Hearing Office is an independent office that coordinates and conducts virtual administrative hearings for the University Community.  Our office provides an impartial virtual hearing space to resolve allegations of violations of various University Administrative Policies.  The goal of the hearing process is to resolve allegations of discrimination, Title IX matters, student conduct violations, personnel matters, and other related matters.  UNM Administrative Hearings are designed to gather information and determine facts in a neutral, respectful setting.  Our hearings are governed by University Administrative Procedures, not traditional courtroom rules—allowing us to focus on ensuring fairness and applying university policy in a structured, but less formal setting.

An Administrative Hearing Advisor (Advisor) does not provide legal representation but offers support and guidance through the UNM Administrative Hearing process.  An Advisor guides their advisee, who may be a Complainant or Respondent, attends proceedings, conducts cross examination during the virtual hearing, and meets with their advisee throughout the process, at the advisee’s discretion.  It is common to interact with advisees that have experienced emotionally complicated situations and/or traumatic situations.

A successful Advisor is knowledgeable in and adheres to the UNM Administrative Hearing Procedures and University Administrative Policies, practices a trauma informed approach, and exercises discretion and maintains the highest standards of confidentiality.  You will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) regarding your role and information received from the institution.
