Position Summary

PLEASE NOTE: Thisposition is for the UNM Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138miles west of Albuquerque, NM.

The UNM-Gallup Division of Student Affairs, Office of Admissions andRecruitment, is searching for a highly motivated person to join our team as anAdmissions Advisor. This position will provide critical support to the campusby initiating and facilitating recruitment and outreach efforts throughoutassigned territories, processing undergraduate admissions applications,evaluating transcripts, and advising potential students on admissionrequirements and options, transfer, and related issues. Additionally, thisposition will assist in the development of programs and marketing materials,facilitate campus tours and present to groups and/or individuals on and offcampus.

The ideal candidate willbe student focused and have an energetic personality with the ability toprepare and deliver small and large group presentations and one-on-onesessions; the ability to work independently, complete assignments, and makeprofessional and sound decisions is essential. There will be some requiredevening and weekend work at recruitment and outreach events, which may includesome travel. Success in this position requires working well in a teamenvironment, including effective cross-functional communications with otherdepartments and University personnel, while achieving excellent customerservice.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working with high school students in a higher education environment
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver presentations and speak in front of large and small audiences
  • Experience and/or direct knowledge and familiarization with higher education (college/university) with emphasis in Admissions, Financial Aid, Scholarships, Records & Registration and other related student services.
  • Strong computer skills which demonstrate efficiency, speed, accuracy, and ability to learn programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations and underrepresented students
  • Demonstrated experiencewith effective workplace communications (written/verbal), leadership, problemsolving, conflict resolution and customer service skills. Ability to multitaskand adaptive to flexible assignments as business needs require.
