Position Summary


The Department of Anesthesiology& Critical Care Medicine at The University of New Mexico (UNM) School ofMedicine in Albuquerque is seeking aninstructor for Medical Spanish. This will be a recruitment for Summer 2025 semester.

This course will provide afoundation of Spanish for the healthcare professional specializing inanesthesia. Through grammar structure,relevant vocabulary, and cultural knowledge students will learn and utilizelanguage to facilitate their daily interactions with Spanish-speaking patients. Successful applicants will support themission of The University of New Mexico, Department of Anesthesiology andCritical Care Medicine, and the Master of Science in Anesthesia program by:

  • Teaching the synchronous Master’slevel lectures for ANES 521 Medical Spanish
  • Learn and apply emergingtechnologies and a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to the needsof the student population and the standards of the discipline.
  • Developing clear syllabi andeffective course materials.
  • Evaluating student mastery of skillsand competencies required by course learning outcomes.
  • Participating in discipline,department, and school meetings and activities.
  • Establishing and maintainingpositive working relationships with students, faculty, and staff of diverse ethnic,cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Teaching scheduled in-person and/orvirtual classes during weekday hours. Maintainformal office hours.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher from anaccredited academic institution in relevant degree discipline.
  • Medical professional degree (MD,DVM, DO or another pertinent post-baccalaureate degree will also beconsidered).
  • One year of experience teaching atthe college level.
