The Fine Arts Department of Valencia Campus is accepting applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor (dependent on qualifications) of Fine Arts at UNM Valencia Branch Campus position, which is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position. Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch community college associated with the University of New Mexico. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers vocational and technical courses as well as academic transfer courses to the citizens of Valencia and northern Socorro counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of approximately 2,300 each semester.
Salary: Base salary range for nine-month faculty position is $44,000 - $46,000 depending on qualifications and experience. Summer teaching is possible and optional with additional compensation. An excellent package of benefits is provided.
Summary of duties and responsibilities: Provide 15 credit hours per semester of classroom instruction in Fine Arts and Art History, along with acting as the Coordinator for Fine Arts within the Humanities Division. Responsibilities include maintaining attendance, scholastic, and student records, as well as posting and maintaining office hours, participating in college committees, curriculum development, outcomes assessment, professional development (directly related to teaching field), departmental projects and community service. Responsibilities also include supervising the Art Studio area along with facilitating bi-annual studio safety inspections.
· Master’s degree in Fine Arts or in a closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Fine Arts.
· One to two years of experience teaching college-level Fine Arts classes at a post-secondary institution.
· MFA, PhD, or ABD (all but dissertation) in Fine Arts or closely related field.
· Two or more years teaching of a wide range of Fine Arts courses at a two-year, post-secondary college.
· Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
· Experience teaching online or hybrid/blended courses.
· Commitment to and potential for service.
· Professional engagement in the field through shows, exhibitions, and/or publications
· A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
