TheDepartment of Cell Biology and Physiology at the University of New MexicoSchool of Medicine (http://cbp.unm.edu/index.html)is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor to build and sustain an active researchprogram in cancer biology with special emphasis on cancer stem cell biology, tumor microenvironment,cancer cell metabolism, or angiogenesis, and a strong interest in basicbiomedical research. Departmental researchprograms focus on cancer genetics and signaling, cardiovascular and renaldisease, and neurodegeneration, and synergizewith UNM Health Sciences Center signature programs (https://hsc.unm.edu/research/research-centers/signature-research-programs/index.html).
The successful candidate will benefitfrom the exceptional opportunities for synergism and interactions with the UNMHSC signature programs, members of the four basic science departments, and theNIH NCI-designated UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center (http://cancer.unm.edu/).
Appointment will be in the Department ofCell Biology and Physiology, at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successfulapplicant will develop a rigorous and independent research program andparticipate in departmental activities including graduate and medical schoolteaching.
Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent
Independent research program, or strong potential for obtaining R01 or equivalent funding, as evidenced by funding history, high quality publications, and research plan
Potential for research interactions with department members
Potential for participating in institutional educational activities
