Position Summary

We invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track 9-month appointment at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Genomics/Bioinformatics. We are interested in applicants who use genomics and computational approaches to investigate fundamental questions in biology. We seek a colleague who will establish and maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program, which complements existing research in a broadly-based biology department encompassing research ranging from molecules to ecosystems. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate through graduate levels at a minority majority institution, including a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, student success, as well as working with a diverse community. Prefer post-doctoral research experience at the start of the appointment. Candidates with expertise in computer science and statistics are encouraged to apply.

UNM is strategically located near multiple national laboratories and has extensive resources for genomics research including molecular and cell biology core facilities and the Center for Advanced Research Computing. Albuquerque is a city with a rich cultural heritage situated in a spectacular Southwest location.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Ph.D. in Biology related discipline at the time of application

Preferred Qualifications:

  • We seek a colleague who will establish and maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program, which complements existing research in a broadly-based biology department
    encompassing research ranging from molecules to ecosystems.
  • Dedicated to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate through graduate levels at a minority majority institution.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
  • Preferably, the candidate will have at least two years of post-doctoral research experience at the start of the appointment.
