Position Summary

PLEASE NOTE: This position is for the UNM Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM.

The University of New Mexico-Gallup invites applicationsfor a tenure track Assistant Professor in Business Administration. We are one of four branch community collegesof the University of New Mexico and serve approximately 2200 students. Located in Gallup NM, approximately 138 mileswest of Albuquerque, UNM-Gallup is situated in the Four Corners region and nearthe Navajo Nation, Zuni Pueblo and Hopi Reservation. The city of Gallup has a population of 22,000and the surrounding areas provide an abundance of outdoor recreationalactivities, various museums and extraordinary cultural vibrancy, whilemaintaining a small-town feel.

UNM-Gallup serves a hugely diverse student populationwith 100+ full time and part-time faculty members. We are fully accredited by the HigherLearning Commission offering Associate degrees, selected Bachelor’s degrees,Career Technical Education certificate programs, and adult basic education(ABE/GED), workforce training and personal enrichment courses. UNM-Gallup serves multiple high schoolpopulations including McKinley Academy, Middle College High School and theCenter for Career and Technical Education.

Assistant Professors at UNM-G have careeradvancement opportunities that are outlined in the UNM Faculty Handbook andfaculty union collective bargaining agreement.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a 24-credithour course load in the area of Economics and Accounting, maintain an active scholarshipand service record (as defined by the UA-UNM CBA), participate in monthlyDivision meetings and execute other relevant duties as agreed upon inconjunction with the division chair in an annual faculty-chair agreement. In addition, the selected candidatewill be expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, andinclusion through actively practicing inclusive behavior and proactivelymanaging bias.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Terminal Degree inBusiness Administration, Economics, or closely-related field (MBA, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years’ experience teaching Economics at the college level
  • Ability to teach Microeconomics and Macroeconomics
  • Ability to teach Accounting courses (i.e., Principles of Accounting I and II)
  • Experience with online teaching platforms.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
