Position Summary | The Department of Linguistics at the University of NewMexico invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor ofLinguistics with a specialization in Signed Language Interpreting to begin inAugust 2025. This is a full-time position. Applicants must have a PhD inLinguistics, Signed Language Interpreting, Educational Linguistics, DeafEducation, or a closely related field by date of appointment. For bestconsideration, all application materials must be received by January 10, 2025. We seek experienced ASL-Englishinterpreter educators who are pursuing a career in Signed Language Interpretingresearch that is compatible with our commitment to functional, usage-basedapproaches to linguistic explanation. Competitive applicants will haveadditional expertise in ASL Linguistics or other areas that complement thestrengths of the Department. Asuccessful candidate will have a record of or potential for mentoring studentsand teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, includingSimultaneous Interpreting, Introduction to the Interpreting Profession, andInterpreting Research. They will also be able to supervise graduate students inLinguistics and Educational Linguistics. |
