Position Summary

This position is for the UNM GallupBranch located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM

The University of New Mexico Gallup (UNMGallup) is one of four branch community colleges of the University and servesapproximately 2,500 students. Gallup has a population of approximately 22,000 and the area provides an abundance ofoutdoor recreational opportunities within some of the most beautiful red rockcountry in the Southwest. Located near the Navajo and Zuni Pueblo Reservations,this campus has one of the largest percentage Native American student body ofany public university campus in the world. UNM Gallup is fully accredited bythe Higher Learning Commission, offering Associate degrees and Career Technicalcertificate programs, adult basic education (ABE and GED), workforce training,and personal enrichment courses. There are approximately 61 part-time and 67full-time faculty members.

The UNM Gallup Branch, Nursing Department,invites applicants to apply for a nine (9) month faculty tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Nursing to begin in Fall 2020. Applicant must be prepared to teachfifteen (15) credit hours or the equivalent per semester in skills lab andclinical settings as well as duties such as scheduling and coordinatingclinical experiences program wide. Duties include development andevaluation of curricula, accreditation preparation, maintaining scheduledoffice hours, attendance at faculty and departmental meetings, participation incampus committees and performance of other duties consistent with the role of acommunity college faculty member. The selected candidate will have astrong commitment to teaching, scholarly activities and professional service aswell as experience in community coordination and outreach.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Two or more years clinical nursing experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in Nursing, Education, or other related field
  • Experience teaching adults at the college level
  • Demonstrated ability to work with groups in a collaborative atmosphere
  • Additional experience in specialties, such as medical/surgical, pediatric, obstetric or psychiatric nursing, preferable within the last two years
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
