Position Summary

COBRE: Autophagy, Inflammation and Metabolism (AIM) Center

Faculty Positions in Molecular Genetics & Microbiology

The Autophagy, Inflammation and Metabolism (AIM) Center) and BioMedical Research Excellence (CoBRE) is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor with expertise in autophagy, inflammation and metabolism and interests in either basic or translational research to contribute to the development of the AIM Center.

Areas of interest aligned with AIM center activities are intended to synergize with UNM HSC signature programs.

The successful candidate will benefit from the new programmatic opportunities through the AIM COBRE and will have exceptional opportunities for synergism and interactions with the UNM HSC signature programs.

Appointment will be in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful applicant will develop a rigorous research program on autophagy and immunology, inflammation, or metabolism; participate in AIM COBRE and departmental activities including graduate and medical school teaching.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent,
  • Eligible to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong record of scientific accomplishments aligned with AIM COBRE, basic or translational research on Autophagy and inflammation or metabolism in disease (fundamental processes, infection, immune disorders, cancer, diabetes and obesity, aging, neurodegeneration, other degenerative diseases),
  • Potential for achieving R01 funding in the areas described above,
  • Publications and training record,
  • Potential for research and educational interactions with members of the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology,
  • Synergy with AIM COBRE and UNM HSC Signature Programs
