Position Summary

The Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine is actively seeking a full-time Assistant Professor specializing in orthopaedic pediatric surgery. The successful candidate will join other faculty in the Division of Pediatrics. This position is in a busy clinical setting and includes Orthopaedic resident education and supervision, scholarly activity, and call at a Level 1 trauma center.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience in teaching, clinical care and proven scholarly achievement. The right candidate will find the work extremely rewarding in a beautiful place to live. Ability to work in the USA is a must. The position may be subject to criminal record screening in accordance with the New Mexico statues.

The UNM Division ofOrthopaedics - Pediatrics is located in the culturally diverse city ofAlbuquerque, which lies in the high desert ecosystem of central New Mexico. Thecity straddles the Rio Grande River and is bordered by the Sandia Mountains onthe East and a string of five inactive volcanoes on the West. A number of NativeAmerican Reservations and Pueblos exist in or near the city. Besides beingrenowned for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, numerous hiking andbiking trails are within easy access, and river rafting and skiing are justaround the corner. Although NM experiences 4 seasons, outdoor leisureactivities are possible all year round due to typically favorable weatherconditions.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.D.
  • Board certified or eligible.
  • Completed residency in orthopaedic surgery.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completed a fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery in an accredited program.
  • Experience in teaching.
  • Experience in Clinical care.
  • Proven scholarly achievement.
