Position SummaryAssistant Professor of Painting and Drawing. Probationary appointment leading to a tenure decision. 1.0 FTE. Service and committee work expected. The new faculty member will teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, advise MFA students and serve on their graduate committees, and contribute to the coordination of the Frederick Hammersley Visiting Artist Program. The new faculty member will compliment, enhance, and expand our painting and drawing research agenda and curriculum.

The Department of Art offers the B.A., B.F.A., M.A., M.F.A., and Ph.D. degrees.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

M.F.A. in Studio Art with emphasis in Painting and Drawing. Active exhibition record and new creative work in Painting and Drawing within the last three years. One year university-level teaching experience as instructor of record.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Conversant in contemporary issues of theory and aesthetics, especially as they relate to painting and drawing and an ability to teach related courses. Minimum of one year of University-level teaching experience of undergrads and grads. Collegiality. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
