Position Summary

PLEASE NOTE: This position is for the University of New Mexico Gallup (UNM G) campus,located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM

The University of New Mexico Gallup campus is one of fourbranch community colleges of the University and serves approximately 2,500students. Gallup has a population of approximately 22,000 and the area provides an abundance ofoutdoor recreational opportunities within some of the most beautiful red rockcountry in the Southwest. Located nearthe Navajo, Zuni, and Hopi Reservations, UNM Gallup has one of the largestNative American student populations in the country. UNM Gallup is fully accredited by the HigherLearning Commission, offering Associate degrees and Career Technicalcertificate programs, adult basic education (ABE and GED), workforce training,and personal enrichment courses. There are approximately 57 part-time and 54full-time faculty members.

The UNM Gallup campus Fine Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences Division invitesapplications for a full-time nine (9) month faculty tenure track at the rank ofAssistant Professor in Psychology to being Fall 2020. The successful applicant will be prepared fora 5/5 teaching load of 100 and 200 level courses, including periodic programassessment, shared governance, committee membership, engage inscholarly/research activities and performs other related tasks assigned by theDivision Chair or Dean of Instruction.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: The minimum qualifications must be consistent with Higher Learning Commission standards and compliant with the faculty hiring guidelines.
  • Ph.D. in Psychology
  • Experience teaching college level psychology courses

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College level teaching experience
  • Experience teaching students from diverse socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
  • Demonstrate understanding and commitment to an open-admission community college
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
