|Position Summary||The Department of Computer Science inthe School of Engineering at the University of New Mexico (UNM) invitesapplications for multiple full-time tenure-track positions at the level ofAssistant Professor. We seek applicants demonstrating excellence in ComputerScience or related disciplines. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertisein (1) cybersecurity, (2) machine learning and data science, (3) quantum information science, (4)high-performance computing, or (5) biological computing, though strongcandidates in all areas of computing will be considered. We are an inter-disciplinary,family-friendly department located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Our research andinstruction push the boundaries in both core Computer Science and itsintersections with other fields. |
UNM CS is committed toexcellence in both undergraduate and graduate education, offering anABET-accredited BS undergraduate program with 500 majors, and MS and PhDprograms with 200 graduate students. Our programs include a strong ComputerScience core as well as opportunities for interdisciplinary education through cross-disciplinaryprograms such as the Interdisciplinary Film and Digital Media (IFDM) program,UNM Computer Science for All (CS4All), and the Computational Science andEngineering (CSE) graduate certificate program.
The Departmenthas seventeen tenure-track faculty whose research is funded by agenciesincluding NSF, NIH, DARPA, ARO, NASA, and DOE. We are a collegial departmenthoused in the new and modern Farris Engineering Center. Our faculty excel in interdisciplinaryresearch through numerous collaborations with other UNM schools, departments,and research centers such as the Center for Biomedical Engineering, the Centerfor Advanced Research Computing, and the UNM Health Sciences Center.
In addition, UNMhas extensive ties and a long history of collaboration with nearby researchcenters such as Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories, the Santa FeInstitute, and the Air Force Research Laboratory. UNM has recently executed aformal memorandum of understanding with Los Alamos that allow for joint UNMfaculty/LANL laboratory staff appointments, and UNM is working on similaragreements with other institutions. To qualify, applicants must havecompleted a doctorate in CS or a related area by August 15, 2020.
