Position Summary

Summary: Directs and oversees the business operations andcommercial services of the Student Union Building at the University of NewMexico. Plans, oversees, and coordinates capital and operating expenditures andprovides leadership within the facility. Assists the Director in implementationof short and long term goals. Works closely with tenants within the building aswell as UNM Food Service. Oversees both Staff and Student employees withinBuilding Operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directs and oversees the planning, development, andadministration of all business, programs, inventory control, and services ofthe organization.
  • Oversees all facets of the daily operations of theorganizational unit, ensuring compliance with the University, state, andfederal laws, policies, and regulations.
  • Works closely with the Accountant in the development andadministration of capital and/or operating budgets and expenditures, and theestablishment and management of financial control systems.
  • Participates in development, implementation and maintenanceof policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning; develops and implementsprojects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.
  • Oversees thesupervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion,enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution;evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions;motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • Develops or assists with the development and implementationof policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization to ensureefficient and safe operation of the unit.
  • Coordinates the preparation of financial statements,financial reports, special analyses, and information reports; presentsrecommendations for programmatic and fiscal changes.
  • Represents the organization at various community and/orbusiness meetings, committees, and task forces; promotes existing and newprograms and/or policies.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in auxiliary building operations
  • Working knowledge of student employee policies as well as supervision
  • Experience with event operations
