Position Summary

The University of New Mexico, Office of the University Controller, also known as Financial Services, located on Main Campus is responsible for all central accounting functions for the University.

It is the responsibility of the Controller's Office aka Financial Services to ensure compliance with all financial policies, rules, and regulations adopted by the University or imposed by external agencies, including state and federal audit requirements, following generally accepted accounting practices. Additionally, the Controller's Office oversees the maintenance of the official financial records of the University.

What We’re Seeking: The UNM Bursar’s Office has a unique opportunity for 3 Fiscal Services Techs to seamlessly transition between the Cashier's Department and Bursar's Office. The chosen applicants will undertake various responsibilities under management guidance, aimed at ensuring a comprehensive and outstanding customer experience.

The individuals selected for these positions will assume the responsibility of processing high-volume cash transactions while providing service support to customers and resolving service requests. In addition, the Fiscal Services Techs will handle various clerical and routine accounting tasks to support the operating unit. These tasks include posting entries, verifying and reconciling input with UNM's general ledger, processing payments, managing secure courier pickups, ensuring accurate vault balancing, and assisting in the preparation of billings and financial reports.

These positions will also address inquiries, contact other departments and vendors to resolve issues, and assist in conducting account reviews and analyses for customers of the Bursar's Office. Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications.

  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.
