Position Summary

The University of New Mexico Human Resources Operations Departmentis seeking a Business Analyst who thrives in a collaborative environment and ispassionate about supporting business process improvement and organizational change.This role is pivotal in analyzing and improving HR processes, supporting annualbusiness cycle events, and supporting strategic initiatives that enhance HR’soperating efficiency and UNM’s employee experience.

The newly established Business Analyst position is key to the success of HROperations’ business cycle and project implementation team.  Through strong collaboration with the Department’sIT and User Support teams, the Business Analyst will partner with departmentsacross HR and other key stakeholders to enable smooth execution of critical processesand projects, including UNM’s Performance Evaluation Process, mandatorybenefits reporting, annual salary updates, and other HR business cycle events.The position also plays an integral role as a functional team member on HRtechnical projects and system implementations, helping incorporate businessprocess improvement and change management efforts across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partnerwith HR Operations leadership and stakeholders to identify process improvementopportunities and implement solutions that support organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with HR departments to ensure seamless execution of annual HR business cycle events.
  • Document business requirements, workflows, and process changes for HR projects and system enhancements.
  • Support change management efforts by developing communication plans, training materials, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Monitor project timelines, deliverables, and risks, ensuring successful implementation of HR initiatives.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Successful completion of at least 60 college-level credit hours; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education or large, complex organizations.
  • Familiarity with HR business processes or those of other similarly complex core administrative functions.
  • Familiarity with HRIS and Human Capital Management (HCM) systems (e.g., Banner, Workday, Oracle, Cornerstone on Demand, SalesForce, UKG).
  • Experience with change management and project management methodologies.
  • Experience with process improvement practices and methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Strong data analysis skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
