Position Summary

The University of New Mexico, School ofMedicine and Health Sciences Center is seeking a full scope nurse-midwife thatwill contribute actively to the climate of diversity and inclusivity. We inviteapplications for an Open Rank position in Midwifery. UNM Obstetrics andGynecology’s Midwifery Division has a busy clinical practice and is active ineducation.

We are a large midwifery group practice that provides full scope midwifery carewithin the University of New Mexico Health System. We are group of diverse anddedicated midwives who are passionate about patient care, advocacy, healthsystem improvement, and education of the next generation of clinicians. This isa full-time clinical position within an academic system which includes clinicalteaching of a variety of learners but is not a didactic teaching position. Ourrole as faculty within the School of Medicine provides many opportunities forinterdisciplinary collaboration & professional growth based on yourinterests. New Mexico offers autonomous midwifery practice, beautiful highdesert outdoor adventures, and sunny weather almost every day.

This positionoffers a competitive compensation (salary commensurate with experience) andbenefits package to include health, professional liability and disabilityinsurance, relocation support, retirement plan, and CME support.  

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Master's degree (MSN)
  • Participation in the Certificate Maintenance Program with the American Midwifery Certification Board (or eligible). 
  • CNM license with New Mexico Department of Health (or eligible)
  • RN license with New Mexico Board of Nursing (or eligible). 
  • State of New Mexico Board of Pharmacy certification and Federal DEA registration (or eligible).

Preferred Requirements:

  •  Experience teaching adult learners
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Interest in participating in clinical research
  • At least one year clinical experience working in academic medical center
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate anunderstanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the successof the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
