The Division of Nephrology, within the Department of Internal Medicine, is seeking a full-time candidate, who is a detail-oriented and results-driven individual, to join our team as a Clinical Research Coordinator for a new and unique opportunity. The University of New Mexico has recently been awarded a 5-year grant from the National Institutes of Health to study kidney disease in Native Americans in New Mexico and Arizona. As part of this study, 500 Native Americans will be recruited to participate in the study, including 200 Native Americans from the Phoenix, AZ urban area. This position will be based at the Clinical Research Branch of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases located in Phoenix, Arizona. The position will oversee patient recruitment, participation, and retention at that site.
In general, the ideal candidate for the Nephrology Research Coordinator position will have experience coordinating clinical trials with Native American communities. This includes completing IRB submissions (local and external), patient recruitment and retention, and data and specimen collection and maintenance. This candidate will also have a firm understanding of good clinical practices in conducting research, strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a variety of University and community stakeholders. The stakeholders might include: health care providers, funding agencies, university and federal researchers, and patients.

Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
