The Division of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Preventive Medicine, within the Department of Internal Medicine, is seeking a term Clinical Research Manager for the HERO study, to manage the UNM site of a pragmatic clinical research trial funded by PCORI to evaluate hepatitis C treatment delivery methods among people who inject substances. This person will manage the continued implementation and quality control of this study. This will involve managing the study calendar to meet milestones and timelines, supervising research assistants, communicating with community stakeholders, maintaining regulatory documents, and conducting research activities such as informed consent, data collection, recruitment and retention. Recruitment and retention are significant activities within this population and this position will require the ability to create and maintain relationships with various community, clinical and government organizations. This position will also involve being the liaison between the HERO UNM Statistical Data and Coordinating Center and the other HERO sites. This will involve communication on database updates, quality control, obtaining access for affiliate users to the HERO database and reviewing reports. This position has the potential to work on other studies as those are funded.

Conditions of Employment
  • NM Licensure as a Registered Nurse may be required, as appropriate to the individual position
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • May be required to submit to annual TB and rubella screening.
  • UNM will provide Hepatitis vaccination, candidate may decline vaccination through declination form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience conducting research activities such as gaining informed consent, data collection/instrument administration, recruitment and retention activities
  • Good Clinical Practice certification
  • Experience with fiscal management and reporting for research grants
  • Experience working with people who have substance use disorders
  • Experience working with community and advocacy groups regarding research in vulnerable populations
  • Harm Reduction training
  • Experience processing lab specimens
  • Phlebotomy experience
