Position Summary

The Department of Family & Community Medicine (DFCM) is seeking motivated and experienced applicants for a Clinical Research Manager position. In this position, the successful candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigator, Dr. Sanjuan, support the activities of the Research Management Team (RMT) and the Vice Chair of Research to ensure the success of the Department and RMT research missions.
The Department of Family & Community Medicine (DFCM) has a multi-faceted and complex programmatic research division. The faculty, staff, and learners participate in statewide, national, and international clinical and community-based research projects and scholarly activities, to varying degrees. The research mission is to advance the science of health, research, education, and service through collaboration with our diverse communities, and conduct innovative primary care research to promote health equity for all New Mexicans. This mission is actualized by the DFCM Research Management Team (RMT), whose mission is to develop, engage, and bridge academic and community scholars by supporting the lifecycle of scholarly projects and grants to improve healthcare for all New Mexicans and promote health equity. The RMT’s primary functions are 1) the development, submission and monitoring of contracts and grants and 2) the provision of scholarly support services.
Specific duties include:
This position will require overseeing data collection for several diverse Public Health Service (e.g., NIH, CDC) funded medical/mental health-related studies at DCFM under one principal investigator.
The clinical research manager will work with multiple sponsors, researchers, department and university administrators, staff members, and internal and external stakeholders to plan, implement, and manage the clinical research studies.
The position involves supervising research staff and students and working with clinical staff to ensure ethical and high quality data collection.
The position will also involve tracking of purchasing and participant payments and may involve contributing to research manuscripts.
The position requires excellent personnel management skills, ability to learn quickly, technical skills, and a strong research background.

Conditions of Employment
  • NM Licensure as a Registered Nurse may be required, as appropriate to the individual position
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • May be required to submit to annual TB and rubella screening.
  • UNM will provide Hepatitis vaccination, candidate may decline vaccination through declination form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with IRB submission, reporting, and compliance

Experience collecting data from participants

Experience with RedCap or similar data collection system

Prior experience with electronic medical records or similar

Experience working in multiple phases of the project cycle of a funded research project

Experience with statistical software packages such as SPSS

Excellent writing skills

Some psychology or medical background

The ability to work independently, are self-motivated, very detailoriented, responsible, and have good critical thinking skills.
