Position Summary


Primary Care Physician with Hospital Duties


The University of NewMexico School of Medicine, Department of Family & CommunityMedicine, seeks qualified and dynamic Family Medicine Physiciansinterested in joining its faculty and passionate about service, education,scholarship, and leadership. Candidateshired for this position will provide patient care in outpatient and inpatientsettings and support departmental education and scholarship efforts. Physicians interested in securing funds forresearch projects are also encouraged to apply.

This position will include a primary care clinic with adedicated patient panel and duties supervising residents in the ambulatorysetting and on one or more of the following hospital services: obstetrics and maternal/childhealth, hospital medicine, newborn nursery, and/or intermediate care nursery. The educational duties will include teachingUNM medical students, physician assistant students, and UNM Family Medicineresidents and fellows.

TheFamily Medicine faculty will join a renowned and well-established academicFamily Medicine department offering opportunities in teaching and curriculardevelopment, clinical quality improvement innovations, community-engagedcollaborative research, and other scholarly activities. Family-Based Clinical Care

In the clinical area, the new faculty member will provideprimary care to a panel of patients at one of our Family Medicine clinics in aPatient-Centered Medical Home model and will have the opportunity to superviseresidents in this clinical setting.

Family Medicine faculty provide care in the Maternal ChildHealth service (a Family Medicine obstetric service), the Family MedicineInpatient Service, which provides care to adult and pediatric patients, theNewborn Nursery, and the Intermediate Care Nursery. In this position, newfaculty will provide service and supervise residents on one or two teachingservices as part of their job duties.

Innovative Education

We are nationally and internationally known for educational innovation. Our department's areas of academic expertise include the social determinants ofhealth, community health and engagement, culturally effective care, addictionmedicine, and point-of-care ultrasound. Our faculty are major contributors tothe education of medical and PA students at UNM, and our residency programprovides opportunities for rotations in rural and underserved settings as wellas UNM rotations.

  • We have several Fellowships, including Maternal Child Health,Sports Medicine, and Addiction Medicine.

About Albuquerque, New Mexico

Albuquerque, NM, is a beautiful city with the Sandia Mountainsto the east and the Mesa to the west. Salary: Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications


Minimum Requirements:

  • Medical Doctor or Doctor ofOsteopathy
  • Board eligible/certified in FamilyMedicine by the ABFM or AOA
  • Eligible for medical licensure inNM
  • Eligible for State of New MexicoBoard of Pharmacy certification and federal DEA registration
  • Must be eligible to work in theU.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years of directly related clinical experience, which mayinclude training in a primary care specialty
  • Patient care experience in an office or community clinic
  • Experience in educating students and residents
  • Ademonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success,as well as working with broadly diverse communities
