Position Summary
The UNM Department of Psychiatry, Division of Community Behavioral Health (CBH) is seeking a self-motivated individual to join our dynamic multi-disciplinary team. The mission of CBH is to address health care disparities through health services research and evaluation; capacity building; training and workforce development; and through increasing access to quality behavioral health services that are holistic, cost-effective and provided with respect to the unique cultures within the communities of New Mexico.
CBH is seeking a Community Based Research Specialist to serve as key staff on several projects designed to improve behavioral health and/or substance use treatment services across New Mexico while increasing access to high-quality care.
The qualified candidate should have in-depth knowledge of and experience with: behavioral health issues and human services-related programs; project implementation; establishing and maintaining positive community relationships; behavioral health-related research tasks, including consenting, screening, and assessment; meeting and group facilitation, interviewing and data collection experience. This position will work closely in a programmatic and research capacity with partners across New Mexico. The desired candidate is responsible, reliable and self-motivated; flexible and goal-oriented with demonstrated follow-through. Excellent administrative and organizational skills, as well as research ethics, are a must.
Duties of this position include: assisting with project implementation, consenting, screening, assessment; data collection, data entry and quality assurance; assisting with database design, creation and maintenance; conducting fidelity assessments; regulatory and other compliance reporting requirements as needed. This position may also facilitate and coordinate training, and participate in grant writing and publication development. The qualified candidate should be comfortable working in a variety of settings (conducting interviews in clinics, public buildings, hospitals, etc.). This position requires excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently and accurately with data across various hardware/software programs.
We plan to hire multiple people for this position to work on new and anticipated projects. This is a full-time position based on need and funding. This position is based in Albuquerque, NM and may require limited travel within New Mexico.

Conditions of Employment
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:
* Prefer advanced degree in behavioral or public health related field
* Demonstrated experience as a successful research or project lead
* Experience with behavioral health services research and evaluation
* Experience conducting interviews with individuals with serious mental illness and/or substance abuse
* Experience working with Human Research Review Boards
* Experience with data management, entry and analysis
* Experience working with community and state partners, such as rural primary care and behavioral health providers
* Experience with Zoom and telehealth technologies
