Position Summary

The UNM Office of Compliance, Ethics & Equal Opportunity (CEEO) seeks a highly qualified professional committed to diversity and civil rights for the role of Compliance Manager. This position reports to the Associate Director for Equal Opportunity.

Duties include - but are not limited to - the following:

  • Supervises, coaches, and guides CEEO investigators who investigate Title IX, Title VII, ADA, and other civil rights reports, as well as alleged violations of VAWA crimes as outlined in the Clery Act.
  • Creates and provides training and guidance both internal and external to CEEO for:
    equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, sexual harassment and misconduct, accommodations and accessibility.
  • Ensures data compliance for timely, complex investigations and data integrity of CEEO’s data systems, including the EthicsPoint complaint system, for purposes of compliance with the Clery Act, Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, and other civil rights laws, as well as to ensure transparent data reporting to the campus community;
  • Coordinates with other UNM stakeholders to ensure CEEO processes are effectively and consistently carried out across the University enterprise.
  • In conjunction with the Clery Coordinator, implements Clery Act required policies, programs, and activities for investigative purposes.
  • Serves as a Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
  • Ensures ongoing compliance with Title IX by ensuring investigators maintain a record of sanctions, advocacy and supportive measures, including safety measures.
  • Works with the UNM Title IX Coordinator to ensure CEEO grievance processes are consistent with Title IX requirements, including: outreach and resources; collection of statements and evidence; initiation of investigations or alternative resolutions; facilitation of supportive measures; tracking and implementation of sanctions/discipline.
  • Carries a small investigative caseload, for reports that are particularly complex or high-profile, as needed.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Juris Doctorate, LLM, or other relevant advanced degree
  • Civil rights or employment law experience
  • Supervisory background
  • Instructional design and/or training facilitation
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice, and civil rights in work history
