We invite you to join our team as a Construction Cost Estimator. Reporting to our Group Manager, this position is responsible for preparing estimates for multiple construction projects with varied scopes, by analyzing costs, materials, labor, bid documentation and specifications associated with each project. This position will also will assist in the coordination of project implementation as a member of various project teams. The successful candidate will:

  • Develop and maintain estimating tools and databases for project manager use.
  • Support project managers in estimate verification.
  • Provide all levels of estimating, including: Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates for planning and programming, design estimates and construction document and bid estimates.
  • Serve as subject-matter expert to internal and external constituents as it relates to cost estimating.
  • Work with project managers, to verify subcontractor estimates and assist in balancing scope with budget.
  • Be informed of current construction trends and cost estimate forecasting.

  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree from an accredited institution in construction management or related field may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of directly related experience with construction cost estimating, including estimating database development.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with full range of cost estimating database tools and develop software applications specific to PDC projects.
  • Strong ability to relay complex details clearly and succinctly.
  • Ability to research independently and apply problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Ability to provide technical assistance and training to project managers in regards to specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, and/or processes related to estimating.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
