Position Summary

The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

This position will provide support and coordination to the CDD's FOCUS Program, an integrated early intervention and family medical home program that provides services to families of children under three years of age. This individual will function as the main point of contact for the FOCUS Program directly interfacing with early intervention providers, physicians, medical support staff, and enrolled families. One of the primary responsibilities will be managing the medical clinic schedules for FOCUS medical clinics using Cerner Scheduling IDX. The scheduling process will involve close and frequent coordination with early intervention and medical providers around conflicts and/or changes in the clinic schedule. The Clinic Coordinator will also attend medical clinics at UNM clinics, near CDD, to assist with scheduling needs, obtaining medical prior authorizations, and scheduling appointments with specialty clinics.

This individual will also utilize PowerChart to access medical records and assist with client billing in coordination with other administrative staff. The individual will also be responsible for obtaining and maintaining medical prior authorizations, as well as, collaborating with clinic staff to schedule specialty appointments.

This individual will work collaboratively with the Division’s administrative team to insure that the program is in compliance with policies and procedures regarding client records, and other related administrative procedures while assuring adherence to HIPAA and PHI policies and procedures.

* Ability to work effectively with a team of administrative and clinical staff.

* Familiarity with diverse communities including those of individuals who have experienced trauma

and adversity, individuals who may struggle with substance use difficulties, children with

developmental disabilities, communities in need, and families in crisis.

* Excellent interpersonal skills as demonstrated through the interview process.

* Experience working in a related field serving diverse clients with high-level needs.

* Advanced coordination and organizational skills.

* Ability to be flexible while staying professional and positive in a changing environment.

* Ability to travel between clinic locations.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience :

  • Scheduling appointments, interacting with a diverse and challenging population of clients.
  • In a medical, or direct service setting, or experience in a behavioral health setting.

  • With scheduling software.

Ability to go to outlier clinics to coordinate scheduling activities.

Advanced knowledge in MS Office Suites particularly Excel.

Knowledge of HIPAA and PHI regulations.
