|Position Summary||The Taos Education andCareer Center (TECC) @ UNM-Taos is an award winning adult education and careerdevelopment center in the state of NM. The Education Support Coordinator (ESC)position works closely with the faculty and staff of the Taos Education &Career Center (TECC) to prepare students to excel in school, life, and careers.This ESC position will focus largely on our English Language Learners (ELLs)and Distance Education (DE) cohorts. The ESC provides the organizational backbone of theprogram-managing the office, facilitating student intake and testing, enteringand analyzing data, providing administrative support to teachers, staff, andstudents, planning events, and assisting with marketing and outreach. The ESCis responsible for creating and managing organizational systems to maintain efficiencyin the office. TECC relies on the ESC to offer vital insight into overallprogram development. Developing a close relationship with each student in orderto best serve and support their goal attainment is the core of the ESCposition. While we currently have one full time ESC, we have found that we needadditional ESC attention for ELL and DE students. This second, part-time ESCwill provide the same job duties for these specialized cohorts. |
ELLs and DE students require academic andcontextualized English skills for success in the workplace, college andsupporting students goals and achievements. The ESC will run onboarding,recruit students, and provide one on one advising to students supporting theirsuccess from start to finish in the program. In addition, the ESC will connectstudents with community services and support the transition to post secondaryeducation and workplace placement. The ESC will closely monitor studentprogress. In addition, the ESC best practices and state-of-the-art learningtools to effectively support students that are learning remotely. Predominantlyduring the summer months, when TECC is not providing direct service tostudents, responsibilities center on recruitment, data analysis and reporting,curriculum development and program planning.
|Conditions of Employment|
High School diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
|Preferred Qualifications||?3-5 years performing administrative duties, including creating efficient systems with high attention to detail. |
?Experience using a data management system- collecting, entering, and analyzing data with high-degree of accuracy
?Experience working with undereducated youth and adults
?Experience working with English Language Learners
?Experience working in Distance Education
?Knowledge of graphic programs to design flyers and program materials
?Knowledge of communication and marketing techniques, including social media, promotion, radio, and face to face PR
?Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate projects and events
?Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
?Spanish speaking preferred
