Position Summary

Student Union Building is seeking an evening Facilities Coordinator to assist Tuesday through Saturday, 1pm to 10pm.

Daily operations and facility coordination. Provides facilities management and support services for the Student Union Building and its associated operations. Ensure the continuity and smooth daily operations of facility by coordinating maintenance, logistics and the activities of internal departments and external vendors. Plays a key role in supporting and overseeing event setup and breakdown. Maintains detailed records of facility usage and maintenance. May also perform clerical duties and day to day public liaison functions with the Student Union Building.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the maintenance of facilities, buildings, and equipment, as appropriate, to ensure optimum functionality; identifies, assesses, negotiates as necessary, and resolves building maintenance and usage problems.
  • Serves as liaison between facility operations and other UNM departments.
  • Works closely with Events and Sales team in scheduling space usage, and building security; prepares calendars and maintains records.
  • Oversees events held at facility; interacts with caterers, and/or auxiliary staff as appropriate to the specific event.
  • Oversees and coordinates day-to-day on-site public assistance activities such as security escort, public information, and/or visitor transport services, as appropriate to the position.
  • Provides technical support and troubleshooting of equipment, as appropriate to the specific position, which may include telecommunications and computer hardware and software.
  • Prepares scheduled and periodic reports of facility usage, maintenance, and condition.
  • Maintains and orders equipment and supplies for facility operations.
  • May operate scissor lift for lighting of events held in the facility.
  • May supervise student employees, volunteers and/or interns; may lead lower-graded staff.
  • Performs various clerical duties as required, including logging and routing incoming mail, light typing, and preparation of outgoing mail.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
  • A valid New Mexico driver's license will be required if a motor vehicle must be operated on the job.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • If located at the UNM Children's Campus, successful candidate must pass a comprehensive post-offer, pre-employment criminal and New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) fingerprint background check, and a continued successful status will be verified by periodic future background checks.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in auxiliary services
