Position Summary

The Department of Geography is seeking a Program Coordinator for its new Geography Ph.D. program, which is offered jointly with New Mexico State University. Responsibilities include: administration of the academic program; communicating with prospective students; advising current students; coordinating communications and travel between UNM and NMSU; and providing research administrative support to UNM faculty and graduate students.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience working with Banner, MyReports, and maintaining and managing student records of a complex group at all levels.

· Strong organizational leadership skills with demonstrated capacity to manage activities with multiple participants working on sometimes tight timelines.

· Experience with Faculty, Staff, and Student (graduate/undergraduate) management policies and processes.

· Demonstrated record of strong, professional interpersonal skills and problem solving (i.e. team collaborations and prioritizing various projects for each Service Center unit.
